Burmov had become prime minister on July 5, 1879, only months after the adoption of the Tarnovo Constitution and the election of Prince Alexander of Battenberg. His cabinet operated in an exceptionally delicate moment: Bulgaria was still organizing its ministries, finances, army, courts, and relations with foreign powers after nearly five centuries of Ottoman rule. The early political system was also divided between conservative and liberal visions of how the new principality should be governed. The fall of Burmov\u2019s cabinet showed how quickly parliamentary and constitutional tensions appeared in the young state. It was not simply a change of ministers, but an early test of Bulgaria\u2019s new political machinery.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>November 24, 1891 \u2014 Vasil Gendov, Pioneer of Bulgarian Cinema, Is Born<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On November 24, 1891, Vasil Gendov was born in Sliven. He became one of the founding figures of Bulgarian cinema, remembered above all for <em>Bulgaran Is Gallant<\/em>, the first Bulgarian feature film, released in 1915. Gendov wrote, directed, and acted in early films at a time when cinema was still a young art form across Europe and almost nonexistent as a Bulgarian industry. His work linked theatre, popular comedy, and the new language of moving images. Later, he also contributed to film organization and preservation, helping build a sense that Bulgarian cinema had its own history worth protecting.
