Standing where the Balkan Mountains meet the sea, Cape Emine is one of the most dramatic points on the coastline and a key landmark for navigation near the northern approaches to Burgas Bay. The lighthouse became part of a wider network of lights built along the Black Sea shore in the late nineteenth century, helping ships move more safely through waters known for strong winds and difficult conditions. Beyond its practical role, the lighthouse also became a symbol of Bulgaria\u2019s maritime presence and of the coastal communities connected to navigation, trade, and the sea.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>December 15, 1891 \u2014 Bulgaria Approves a New Law on the Armed Forces<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On this day in 1891, Prince Ferdinand endorsed the Law on the Organization of the Armed Forces of the Bulgarian Principality. The law was one of the formative documents in the development of the modern Bulgarian army.
