The play was adapted from Christoph von Schmid\u2019s novel <em>Rosa von Tannenburg<\/em> and was known in Bulgarian as <em>The Tale of Ruzica<\/em>. The event belongs to the cultural world of the Bulgarian National Revival, when schools, reading rooms, newspapers, and theatre helped strengthen language, education, and civic identity.
