The Bulgarian army repelled the attack, helping secure the front and preserve pressure on Ottoman forces in Thrace. The battle mattered because the First Balkan War was not a single campaign but a series of interconnected operations around Adrianople, \u00c7atalca, Bulair, and other strategic points.<\/p>\n<p>Bulgarian victories carried enormous public meaning at the time, feeding hopes for national unification and military prestige.
