The proclamation had ended the formal dependence left by the Treaty of Berlin, but international recognition was necessary to settle its consequences fully.<\/p>\n<p>After diplomatic negotiations, compensation and acceptance by the Great Powers, Bulgaria could act as a fully independent state. Recognition was not merely a protocol matter. It closed an important chapter in the country\u2019s effort to establish its independent status and organize its relations with the other European states.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>April 6, 1927 \u2014 The Radio Act Is Adopted<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On April 6, 1927, the Radio Act was adopted, allowing citizens to own radio receivers. The new technology brought news, music, education and entertainment into homes and created a shared information space.<\/p>\n<p>Radio soon became one of the most influential channels of public communication, especially during political crises and wars. Bulgaria entered an era in which one voice could reach the whole country, and information no longer depended only on printed publications and personal contact.<\/p>\n<p>April 6 therefore places two different forms of connection side by side: international recognition, which gave the state full diplomatic independence, and radio, which connected citizens within a common national information space.<\/p>\n<p>The two episodes show different dimensions of modern statehood.
