Hristo Prodanov became the first Bulgarian to summit an eight-thousander and one of the few climbers to reach Lhotse without supplementary oxygen. The expedition demanded weeks of difficult preparation through dangerous terrain, high camps, extreme weather, and the hazards of the so-called death zone. The achievement entered Bulgarian sporting history as a landmark of endurance and ambition.
