It appeared at a tense moment in Bulgarian political life, while preparations for the April Uprising were already under way in the Bulgarian lands. For Botev, journalism was more than a way to circulate news. It was a means of political awakening and of forming a clear position among the Bulgarian \u00e9migr\u00e9 community.<\/p>\n<p>Published in Bucharest, the newspaper connected discussions among emigrants with the anxieties and hopes of people living in the Ottoman Empire. The printed word gave names to problems, pointed to the causes of discontent and sustained the sense that the struggle for freedom had a common direction. The appearance of <em>Nova Bulgaria<\/em> shows how important the press was to the national movement: it reached readers who could not take part directly in a revolutionary organisation, but who could be informed, persuaded and drawn towards a shared cause.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>May 5, 1948 \u2014 CSKA Sofia Is Founded<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>On May 5, 1948, CSKA Sofia was founded. In the decades that followed, the club became one of the most successful and recognisable names in Bulgarian sport. Its history is connected with the army\u2019s sports system during the socialist period, but also with generations of footballers, coaches and supporters who shaped its identity.<\/p>\n<p>CSKA won numerous national titles and took part in European tournaments. For many people, the club belongs not only to football statistics but also to Sofia\u2019s urban culture.
