During the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising, a detachment of Bulgarian revolutionaries from the Internal Macedonian Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) fought a heroic rearguard action against Ottoman forces at Sliva, near Krushevo.
