July 30, 1964 — Founding an Engineering Institute in Gabrovo

A Higher General Technical Extramural Institute was established in Gabrovo, in north-central Bulgaria. It would later become the Higher Machine and Electrical Engineering Institute, and eventually the Technical University of Gabrovo in 1995.

July 30, 1991 — Establishing the Constitutional Court

The Grand National Assembly passed the Constitutional Court Act, setting up Bulgaria’s Constitutional Court as an entity independent from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of power, a key institution in the country’s democratic transition.
