September 11, 1923 — Government Declares Martial Law

In response to growing intelligence about an imminent communist-led armed uprising, the government of Aleksandar Tsankov declared martial law across several regions of Bulgaria. This decree allowed the military and police to conduct widespread searches, restrict public assemblies, and establish strict censorship, attempting to neutralize the insurgency before it could organize.

September 11, 1877 — Third Battle of Pleven Reaches Climax

The bloody Third Battle of Pleven reached its most intense phase. Combined Russian and Romanian forces launched a massive, coordinated assault on the Ottoman redoubts. Despite the bravery of the soldiers, including the famous charge led by Russian General Mikhail Skobelev, the defenses held, resulting in heavy casualties and forcing the allies to shift to a full siege strategy.
