July 21, 1879 — Opening Diplomatic Ties with Romania
Bulgaria established diplomatic relations with neighboring Romania at the level of diplomatic agencies, one of the young state’s first steps in building formal ties with its neighbors after liberation. The relationship was later promoted to embassy level in 1948.
