Greek islands are not all about the same kind of holiday. One may be built for nightlife, another for quiet villages, another for history or long afternoons in the water. My advice is simple: do not try to squeeze too many islands into one trip. Choose one or two and give them enough time to surprise you.

#5 — Mykonos
Mykonos combines beautiful beaches with a famous party scene. Bars, clubs and restaurants stay lively, while historic details such as the old windmills and an ancient Roman aqueduct add another side to the island.
#4 — Thassos
In the northern Aegean, Thassos offers clear water, green landscapes and picturesque fishing villages. Explore its ancient amphitheatre and 15th-century fortress, then try the local seafood, wine and traditional dishes. Hiking, cycling and water sports are easy to add.
#3 — Corfu
Corfu has sandy beaches, secluded coves and a layered history. Its 15th-century fortress, ancient temple and Roman villa ruins are reminders of the island’s past, while Corfu Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for Venetian architecture.
#2 — Rhodes
Rhodes brings together beaches, scenic countryside and one of the most atmospheric old towns in Greece. Medieval fortresses, ancient ruins and the Palace of the Grand Master sit alongside museums, water sports and a lively harbour.
#1 — Santorini
Santorini’s cliffside villages and crescent-shaped caldera were shaped by a volcanic eruption. Visitors come for the views, ancient ruins, black-sand beaches, fresh seafood and local wine. It is difficult not to stop for a photograph here—but try to look up from the camera too.
