July 19, 1880 — Honoring the Liberation
Bulgaria instituted its first medal, “For the Liberation of 1877–1878”, conferred on members of the Bulgarian Volunteer Corps who fought in the decisive battles of Stara Zagora, Shipka, and Sheinovo during the Russo-Turkish War. July 19 is also marked in Bulgaria as Diplomatic Service Day.
July 19, 1907 — Founding Forensic Science in Bulgaria
Bulgaria’s first forensic science laboratory was established on this day, laying the groundwork for what would later become the country’s Research Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology.
